2007 Conference

In September, representatives from thirteen states attended the 2nd Annual Southern Coalition Conference on Civic Literacy. Participants addressed ways to develop the organization, structure and function of the Southern Coalition. Members of this regional partnership shared a wealth of resources used by government, community and education leaders, in efforts to prepare young people across the South for active civic participation.

Location and Date

The Southern Coalition will convene this fall in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, September 21-Sunday, September 23. 

Accommodations

The Brown Hotel will be the location for overnight accommodations and meeting space.  Hotel rooms for September 21 and September 22 will be provided at no cost for up to three participants per state. The Brown Hotel is located in downtown Louisville at 335 West Broadway.  Shuttle service is provided by The Brown to and from the Louisville airport.

Registration Fee

Thanks to the generous support from the Center for Civic Education, there is no registration fee.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their own expenses while traveling to and from the conference.

Meals

All meals (dinner the evening of September 21 to breakfast the morning of September 23) will be provided for up to three participants per state.
