Rediscovering Democracy

As Secretary Grayson had so adamantly stressed, the 2004 Summit was not to be "simply a one-time event." Building on the momentum created by the success of the Louisville Summit, eleven regional meetings were held at various locations across the state in hopes of including an ever growing number of Kentuckians in the initiative. These meetings, when fused with the 2004 Summit recommendations, created, as the General Assembly had requested, "a strategy for enhancing long term civic engagement and literacy in the Commonwealth." This strategy, entitled Rediscovering Democracy: A Report on the Kentucky Summit on Civic Literacy, was published and presented to the Senate Education Committee in the Spring of 2005.
